May 2026 Director’s Letter

I hope to see you at the upcoming Annual Plant Sale! The sale this year will be held between the senior center and the senior apartments. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the First Picks Party, April 30, and the Plant Sale on May 1 & 2 from 9am-3pm. All of the event information can be found at
https://snovalleysenior.org/spring-into-gardening.

Celebrate Older Americans Month by dining out for a great cause! On Thursday, May 21, open 7am-2pm, Corie’s Café in Duvall will donate a portion of their proceeds back to the Sno-Valley Senior Center.

Corie’s Café is your destination for fresh breakfast, brunch favorites, and Filipino inspired comfort food in downtown Duvall. Enjoy a delicious meal, support a wonderful local restaurant, and give back to your community—all at the same time. Bring your friends and make it a meal out that makes a difference!

It’s Up to US to make sure no senior in our community goes without a healthy, warm meal. This GiveBIG, our goal is to raise $15,000 in support of the Sno-Valley Senior Center daily lunch program, which will serve over 11,000 meals this year. Your donation helps provide local seniors with nourishment, connection, and care.

Celebrate Older Americans Month, our Snoqualmie Valley community,  and the theme “Champion Your Health”, by giving big(ger), starting on April 28 and culminating in 24 hours of giving on May 5! Thanks to the generous support of a matching donor, the Michael and Gina (Cambio) Fisette Charitable Trust, every dollar raised will be matched, up to $7,500!

You can give at the link www.wagives.org/organization/snovalleyseniorcenter, by mail using the envelope provided in this newsletter, or donate at the Front Desk, please note “GiveBig” so that it will be matched!

The Plant Sale and GiveBIG are two of our most successful fundraisers of the year. YOU can help us move into the second half of the year strong with a purchase at the Plant Sale and/or a GiveBIG donation today!

Our sincere thanks to Maureen Cleary for her service on the SVSC Board of Directors the last 5+ years, as she steps down. If you are interested in learning more about what being on the Board of Directors looks like, especially as we move through this transition away from Sound Generations, please let me know.

Did you know that the Re-in-Carnation (RIC) Thrift Store contributes 10% of our annual budget? In 2025, RIC raised almost $110,000 and they are on track to do the same if not more this year. Your donations and purchases make a big difference. Don’t forget, members get 50% off on the first Wednesday each month, there are always great deals. Check out their sales calendar towards the end of this newsletter, and get your tickets today for the Annual RIC Fashion Show and Tea!
