September is National Senior Center Month!

September is National Senior Center Month. We celebrate that Senior Centers provide the opportunity to grow, learn, give and connect.  So that everyone can see all that we do we are having an open house on Sept. 23rd.  Invite your friends and neighbors to check us out and try out fitness classes and our lunch for free!

Our vision is that all Snoqualmie Valley older adults lead healthy, enriched lives. But not all can afford to do what they need to do to be healthy. That’s where you come in!

Many seniors are living in the Snoqualmie Valley on just their social security. They own their home but their property taxes have gone out of sight! Their income has not changed much but their costs for medicines have. Their doctor tells them to exercise and eat better but they feel like they can’t afford a fitness class or fresh food.

Here’s how you can help. You can contribute today to our scholarship fund. Then local seniors can get a hot made from scratch meal for free. They can attend the evidence based Enhance Fitness class for no charge. They can attend Adult Ed for no charge. You can change their life!

Your gift today will help us offer:

  • A hot healthy meal to more people
  • Life changing workshops on Medicare, Fraud Protection, Fall Prevention and more
  • Health enhancing fitness classes like Fit Over 50 or Walk with Ease
  • Social opportunities for fun, friendship and laughter

Together we can create a safe, respectful way for people to access the services they need without any barriers.

Can you give just $25 or more for the scholarship fund today? Join us in letting our older adults know their community cares. You can go on-line to www.snovalleysenior.org or drop off a donation with the receptionist. If you NEED a scholarship, just talk to any staff person and we can get you the form and help you out!

I also hope you will join us for our annual Auction Gala. This year the theme is Old School Senior Prom to be held at McMenamins Anderson School in Bothell on Saturday, Oct. 19th.  We’ll have a live band with music from the 60s & 70s, a great meal, photo booth, and lots of great items to bid on.  Tickets are available on-line at https://snovalleysenior.org/events/ and are only $85 IF purchased by Sept. 18th.  Or invite all your friends and get a table of 8 for just $640.  You can also be a VIP for just $125 which includes a private Pre-Funk Party, wine, and a swag bag.  It’s going to be quite the party!  You can live your dreams by bidding on a ZipLine Adventure, being a race car driver, dining at the five star Herb Farm Restaurant or go to Costa Rica’s Marriott with airfare included!  If you can’t make it consider making a regrets donation.  But we hope to see you there!

As always if you have any questions, problems or praises, come talk to me in my office on the 2nd floor or call 425-333-4152, ext. 1 or e-mail Lisay@soundgenerations.org
